VVS Laxman has accepted the post of NCA chief.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman has accepted BCCI’s offer to take over as the Director of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru from mid-December. Laxman has accepted the post of NCA over the weekend. He has also informed about his decision to leave Sunrisers Hyderabad as an advisor, a role he took in 2013.

Coaching Experience-

VVS Laxman, 47, was also a batting consultant for six years at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Which gave him the ‘Vision 2020’ program aimed at fostering and promoting grassroots talent in Bengal, was chosen for. That role was facilitated by former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who was CAB’s joint secretary in 2014.

Freedom to work in coordination

Laxman will also get the freedom to work in coordination with the selectors to select and manage the India A and Under 19 teams, including the appointment of the coaching staff.

Fortunately for Laxman, he takes charge of a well-established structure set up by Dravid. Which put in place education and skill-based programs not only for players. But also for former players aspiring to be coaches.

BCCI is yet to announce Laxman’s appointment and tenure details, this will be the first time that Laxman will hold an influential position in Indian cricket.
