India has named VVS Laxman as interim coach for the Asia Cup in the absence of Rahul Dravid, who tested positive for COVID-19.
Assumed the Role Of Head Coach:-
In the absence of Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman will act as the interim head coach for the Asia Cup.

Laxman has in the past assumed the role of head coach during India’s limited-overs tour of Ireland and more recently against Zimbabwe.
Laxman has traveled from Harare to the United Arab Emirates with vice-captains KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda, and Avesh Khan, all of whom were part of the ODI series against Zimbabwe and are in India’s Asia Cup squad.
Rahul Tests Positive for COVID-19 before Going to UAE:-
Dravid had tested positive for COVID-19 before India traveled to the UAE for the Asia Cup, but is expected to join the team after a negative test returns and is cleared by the BCCI’s medical team.
For the second time in the history of the tournament, the Indian team reached the UAE on 24 August to prepare for the Asia Cup to be played in the T20 format.
Their campaign begins with the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan on Sunday, 28 August, before playing the winner of the qualifiers on 31 August.

The Asia Cup will be the first major tournament for Rohit Sharma. After he was appointing India’s permanent T20I captain in November last year.

It will serve as a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup to be holding in Australia later this year.
Incidentally, India won the last edition of the Asia Cup under Rohit’s captaincy. As he was filling in for Virat Kohli during the 2018 edition of the tournament.
