Pakistan’s bowling coach Waqar Younis, referring to the first Test in Jamaica, said that “there could not have been a better advertisement for a Test cricket match”. Waqar criticized Pakistan’s catch at the end of the match, which proved to be a major factor in West Indies’ 1–0 lead in the two-match series.

West Indies were at one point 114/7, losing in quick succession to Jermaine Blackwood (55) and Jason Holder (16). Kemar Roach and Joshua da Silva joined the core for a crucial partnership but at 142/8 and 151/9, Pakistan still held the upper hand. But Kemar Roach, who was given some relief, was calm under the pressure of standing in the queue.

Waqar said there could not have been a better advertisement for a Test cricket match:

“It’s been a very good Test match, there couldn’t have been a better advertisement for a Test cricket match. Unfortunately, we were delusional about the result, but that’s how cricket happens. Of course, mistakes were made but that’s the reason. that we are on the other side.” We were bad at catching – they’ll hurt you if you drop catches in stressful times. The bowlers finally gave their all and gave them the salute. The way they have fought this battle in a Test match, I am proud of this bowling unit. It is the job of the bowlers to create opportunities. He scored a total of 114 runs for 7 wickets and then he had three chances left. Waqar said that “if we cannot find it as a single entity it will harm us.”

It was a low-scoring Test match, with a total of 253 being the highest score in four innings. Waqar said it was a big help for the fast bowlers, who were finding the situation too difficult for the batsmen.

Seaming the ball helped the bowlers a lot:

“The ball was seaming, it was cloudy at times. The pitch was not easy to bat on. The bowlers got a lot of help, so it was a low-scoring Test match. Batsmen need to plead on such pitches, and They also need to be positive, as a batsman you need to take risks sometimes. Will, Waqar said with the duke ball, and it is not easy for the batsmen in such conditions. They have to bounce too .

“Things are likely to remain the same for the second Test as well. I am not sure about the (weather) forecast. We want to play in the same way and with the same spirit as we did in the last Test. We want those mistakes. . Don’t. Avoid what we did in the last Test.”

Waqar said he found no problem with Babar Azam’s captaincy in the tense end, while he also came to the rescue of Mohammad Abbas, who went without a wicket in the second innings.

Waqar’s statement about Babar in Test match:

Waqar said, “He (Babar) captained really well throughout the Test match. It’s not easy for a young captain in these kind of Test matches, but he did a fantastic job nonetheless. I couldn’t finish the game.” But I can.” “Abbas, I thought, bowled well. There are some days when luck doesn’t favor you. The way Abbas bowled, he should have picked up a few more wickets. He was hitting the bat, not looking for the edges. Well, he is part of the game. Abbas is an amazing professional, he bowled really well but unfortunately, he didn’t take as many wickets as we expected. But that’s fine with me.”
