West Indies beat SA as T20I series ends 1-1

Clean bowling from Karishma Ramharack (3 for eight) and Hayley Mathews (1 for nine) helped West Indies women level the three with an easy five-wicket win at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Saturday (Sep.5). Of. West Indies beat South Africa as match T20I series 1-1 ended.

Elected to bat, could never run South Africa’s innings. Henry dismissed captain Dane van for a duck in the first over, and the Marijne Cup soon returned without scoring.

The hosts were dismissed for 12 for 4 :-

Aaliyah Allen picked up a brace as she soon followed with a strike from in-form Lisel Lee, and Laura Wolvaardt was run out after facing only one delivery. In the third over, the hosts were bowled out for 12 runs for 4 wickets.

Tzmin Brits and Sune Loos tried to revive the innings with a slow but steady stand of 26 before being dismissed by Hayley Matthews in the eighth over. With the batsmen battling for partnerships, the scoring rate also declined drastically. The Masabata class provided a strong barrier towards end of the innings to ensure that SA could meet their quota of overs, but could only help them post 80 for 9.

The 53 runs partnership in 36 balls :-

West Indies, despite a slight stutter towards the end of largely overhauled the objective, A 36-ball 53 partnership by the second wicket pair of Deandra D. and Kishona Knight. Which served the purpose in half. Scored more runs than required. Dottin was run out for 31 off 21 balls on the first ball of the eighth over.

Van Niekerk took two wickets in the next 26 balls while Kapp took one. However, the collapse of the middle order came quite late for the guests as WI overhauled the total with 49 balls to spare.
