The first Test match (ZIM vs WI) played between Zimbabwe and West Indies in Bulawayo ended in a draw. Chasing a target of 272, Zimbabwe scored 134/6 in their second innings on the final day. Earlier, West Indies declared their second innings at a score of 203/5. West Indies’ Tejnarine Chanderpaul was named player of the match for his double century.

West Indies, who came to play ahead of yesterday’s score of 21/0, suffered the first blow on the score of 32. Tejnarine Chanderpaul, who scored a double century in the first innings, became the victim of Brad Evans by scoring 15 runs. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite was also dismissed for 50 after scoring 25 runs. From here Rayman Reifer (45) and Jermaine Blackwood (38) handled the innings and took the score to 131 for two by lunch.

West Indies Declared at 203/5 in 60 overs

In the second season, Reifer and Blackwood converted their partnership into a century partnership. This partnership was broken by Wellington Masakadza and Reifer went on to score 157 after scoring 58 runs. Blackwood was also dismissed after scoring 57 runs after completing his half-century. Roston Chase scored 14 runs. Kyle Mayers remained unbeaten on 17 and Joshua Da Silva scored 9 runs as West Indies declared at 203/5 in 60 overs. Masakadza took three wickets for Zimbabwe.

Only three balls into Zimbabwe’s second innings, rain came and tea was announced. When the game started, the team got the first blow on the score of 14. cwas dismissed after scoring 9 runs. Innocent Kaia also went on to score 24 runs. The maximum 31 runs came from the bat of Chamu Chibhabha. Captain Craig Ervin played an inning of 17 runs. At the same time, Gary Ballance, who scored a century in his team’s first innings, scored 18 runs. From here it looked like the West Indies could win the match but T Siga and Wellington Masakadza did not allow any more wickets to fall and the match ended in a draw. Gudakesh Motti of West Indies took the maximum four wickets.
