Why is the hymn ‘Ram Siya Ram’ played as soon as Keshav Maharaj comes on the field? finally revealed

Whenever South African spinner Keshav Maharaj comes on the field to bat, the hymn ‘Ram Siya Ram’ is played in the stadium most of the times. This was seen during the limited overs series and test series played against India. Now it has been revealed why this happens.

Keshav Maharaj himself had requested :-

Now the 33-year-old player said that he has requested the media to play devotional songs whenever he goes to the field. Through this he wants to thank God for his brilliant career. Maharaj took five wickets against India across formats. The left-arm spinner also recently took 15 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 4.15 in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He currently remains the main spinner of South Africa.

Keshav Maharaj told PTI :-

Keshav Maharaj told PTI, “Obviously, something that I put in front of the media and requested to play that song. For me, God has been my biggest blessing, giving me guidance and opportunities. So that’s why There is something, which is very little, but I can do it and it puts you in your zone. It’s a good feeling to hear ‘Ram Siya Ram’ playing in the background while walking out (in the field).”

KL Rahul had asked this question to Maharaj :-

Recently a clip went viral, in which KL Rahul was asking Maharaj that whenever you come to bat, ‘Ram Siya Ram’ is played, after which Maharaj nodded yes. Similarly, a video of Virat Kohli doing archery with folded hands went viral. The song is dedicated to Lord Rama in Hindu mythology. It is trending at the moment, because Ram temple will be inaugurated in Ayodhya on 22 January.
