Ganguly Revealed that we had Requested Virat not to step down as T20 Captain but he did not want to Continue in this Position
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly told PTI, ‘We had requested Virat not to step down as T20 captain but he did not want to continue in this post. So the selectors felt that they could not have two white-ball captains in the white-ball format. This would have made the captaincy too much. He further said that Kohli talked about in this regard and he has accepted this decision.
Ganguly said that the selectors felt that the white-ball format would confuse multiple captains. So the Chetan Sharma-led committee suggested that it would be better to have only one captain and thus came to the conclusion that Rohit will be the captain of the ODI team. And Virat should captain test cricket.
