IPL Auctioneer Mallika Sagar: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Mallika Sagar as the auctioneer for the Indian Premier League 2024 players auction. The IPL 2024 auction will be held on December 19 at the CocaCola Arena in Dubai. Malikka Sagar also played a major role in the Women’s Premier League auction this year. Earlier, BCCI used to hire the services of Richard Madley or Hugh Adams for the IPL auction.

Mallika also came to the market during the inaugural session of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction earlier this year. Usually, BCCI includes either Richard Madley or Hugh Adams for the IPL auction. But, with Adamides fainting due to “postural hypotension” during the mega-auction in 2022, the BCCI would not want to take any chances.

All 10 franchises can buy only 77 players

Overall, 1166 players have registered for this year’s IPL auction. Indians dominate this list with 830 players, while the remaining 336 are foreign players. However, all 10 franchises can buy only 77 players, which will include 30 foreigners and 47 Indians.
