New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the Bangladesh One Day International Series due to an elbow injury

Bangladesh tour of New Zealand series begins from March 20 in Dunedin, New Zealand both the teams will play three One Day International matches and three T20 International matches

Kane Williamson has a small wound in his left elbow tendon which he batted from the second half of New Zealand’s summer.

He also ruled out of New Zealand’s domestic T20 Super Smash earlier this year due to a flick in his elbow

Williamson returned to action in time for New Zealand recently in 5 matches T20I series against Australia, where New Zealand beat Australia by 3-2

Kane scored brilliantly in the second T20I match, scoring 53 runs but after that, he failed to score in the series.

“Kane has been managing elbow injuries to varying degrees this summer and unfortunately has not improved,” Shekel said.

He clearly stated that there is a high amount of training and play in all three formats, hampering his ability to recover. We believe that he now needs a period of rest and rehabilitation to correct the injury.

“Kane has loved playing for his country – so taking this step back was not an easy decision,” Stead said (New Zealand coach)

“A batsman’s elbow is important to his game and with the improvement of the injury, it should be clear that something should have been done- Stead said
