Women’s Ashes 2023, Ashley Gardner: Australia off-spinner Ashley Gardner created history by taking 8 wickets in an innings in the one-off Test of the Women’s Ashes series against England. Ashley Gardner became the second bowler in the world to take 8 wickets in an innings of Test.

Gardner took eight wickets for 66 runs in England’s second innings. Due to his brilliant performance, Australia defeated England by 89 runs.

By the way, before Gardner, India’s Neetu David did a wonderful job of taking 8 wickets in an innings. Neetu David’s record is also intact. David took eight wickets for 53 runs in an innings against England in Jamshedpur in 1995. Neetu David holds the record for taking 8 wickets for the lowest runs in an innings in a women’s test match.

Let us tell you that Australia defeated the England women’s team by 89 runs in the only test. Australia batting first scored 473 runs in the first innings. In response, England’s first innings was limited to 463 runs.

After this, Australia scored 257 runs in the second innings and set a target of 268 runs for victory in front of England. The hosts were all out for 178 while chasing the target.
