Wanindu Hasaranga equals Waqar Younis record: On the basis of star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by 133 runs in the 15th match of the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023 on Sunday. Hasaranga equaled a big record of former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis.

Waqar Yunus equaled the record :-

Hasaranga has taken impressive figures of 6/24, 5/13 and 5/79 in his last three matches respectively. Because of this, Sri Lanka has not lost a single match in the World Cup qualifier tournament. With three wins, Sri Lanka has made it to the Super-6. Along with this, Scotland and Oman have also qualified.

Hasaranga became the second bowler in ODI history after legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis to take 3 consecutive 5 wicket hauls. Waqar Yunus achieved this feat in the 1990 World.

World Cup Qualifier 2023: Sri Lanka made place in Super-6 :-

Coming to the match, experienced Dimuth Karunaratne scored a brilliant 103-ball 103, while wicketkeeper-batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 82 off 86 balls. Dhananjay de Silva played a crucial 35-ball 42 as Sri Lanka posted a mammoth 325. In response, Ireland were all out for 192 runs.
