WPL 2023: A major controversy erupted in the Women’s Premier League when Gujarat Giants dropped West Indies explosive all-rounder Deandre Dottin from the team citing injury and called for his replacement. Dottin immediately gave statements against it by taking the help of social media. He had said that he was neither unfit nor injured, yet Gujarat Giants dropped him.
WPL 2023: On Sunday, Deandra released a statement, in which she said –
“I am very disappointed at how some amazing arguments were given by some team for my not playing in the tournament. At the start of the tournament, the franchise had claimed that I was kept out of the team because I was recovering from a medical condition, even though they had been given medical clearance by February 20.”
This controversy is not taking the name of stopping now. Dottin has again raised this issue on social media and asked Gujarat Giants sharp questions.
Dottin said she sought treatment last December after experiencing minor abdominal pain. She then saw two medical specialists in December and January and was advised bed rest till February 13. He added that he had been cleared to resume training from February 14.
Dottin said –
“I resumed training and fitness as per schedule. While resuming training, I felt pain again and consulted a specialist. He advised me to rest for one more week and do light training.”
Dottin added – “I was in touch with the Gujarat team on this matter and told the physiotherapist there about it. However, this information was misrepresented by the Gujarat team. He said that after the training session I had severe stomach pain, which was not correct information.”
