WPL 2024: WPL matches can be held in many cities, announcement can be made after the auction

WPL 2024: Like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Women’s Premier League (WPL) matches can also be organized in different cities in the next season and currently Mumbai and Bengaluru are at the forefront of this race. The matches of the first season of WPL played from March 4 to 26 this year at DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

WPL 2024: BCCI told PTI this :-

A BCCI official told PTI on the condition of confidentiality, “The final decision regarding the match venues can be taken after December 9 (WPL auction date), but there is every possibility that it will be held in different cities this time.” Can happen and right now Mumbai and Bengaluru are at the forefront of this race.

Mumbai and Karnataka Cricket Association officials have also shown interest in hosting the WPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team captain Smriti Mandhana had also advocated organizing WPL matches in different cities.

The second phase of WPL may start in February-March:-

The second phase of WPL may take place in February-March next year. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions, having won the title under Harmanpreet Kaur earlier this year by defeating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets on March 26. Five franchises Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriors have retained 60 cricketers ahead of the auction, including 21 overseas players.
