New Delhi. In the women’s IPL auction (WPL auction 2023), 5 teams bid aggressively on the players. Smriti Mandhana, the fast-batting opener, was the most expensive player of the league. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a record Rs 3.40 crore. 3 players got more than 3 crores. Indian captain Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was included in his team by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.80. Harmanpreet lagged behind 9 players in terms of money. T20 league matches are to be played from March 4 to 26.

Apart from Smriti Mandhana, Australian all-rounder Ashley Gardner was bought by Gujarat Giants for Rs 3.2 crore and England all-rounder Natalia Seaver was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.2 crore. On the other hand, UP Warriors included all-rounder Deepti Sharma in 2.6 crores and Delhi Capitals included Jemima Rodrigues in their team for 2.2 crores. Jemima had scored a blistering half-century against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup a day earlier.
