Bangladesh have given top-order batsman Zakir Hasan a debut for the first Test against India, while Tamim Iqbal is yet to recover from injury. Zakir earned his place in the 17-man squad after topping the run-charts in the domestic four-day competition. He was also named player of the match in the first unofficial Test against India. Scoring 173 in the second innings to help the hosts draw. The wicketkeeper-batsman then scored 46 runs in the first innings of the ongoing second match.
BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said –
“Our physio said that he won’t be able to play in the first Test. But we are waiting for the medical report for the second Test. So, we have announced the squad for the opening Test.” Tamim is also out of the team after suffering a back injury, due to which he was ruled out of the ongoing ODI series as well.

Minhajul added – “As far as Zakir is concerned, we feel that he is performing regularly in domestic cricket to earn a place in the Test team.”
Taskin Ahmed is fit for Tests
Bangladesh have also been strengthened by the return of Mushfiqur Rahim to the Test side after missing out on his side’s previous work in the red-ball format against the West Indies. Taskin Ahmed, who missed the ongoing ODI series with injury, is fit for the Tests.

The first Test will begin in Chattogram from 14 December. And the second and final Test in Dhaka from 22 December. The hosts have already made an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series.
