Zimbabwe beat Ireland in T20 World Cup, Sikandar Raza and Blessing Mujarabani became the heroes of victory

Zimbabwe started their campaign by defeating Ireland by 31 runs in the fourth match of the T20 World Cup 2022. Playing first, Zimbabwe team scored a score of 174/7, in reply Ireland team could score 143/9. Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza (48 balls 82 and 1/22) was adjudged the player of the match.

Ireland won the toss and elected to bowl and shocked Zimbabwe on the second ball of the first over. Opening batsman Regis Chakabwa became the victim of Joshua Little without opening the account. Little also picked up the wicket of Wesley Madhevere and he was dismissed for 37 after scoring 22 runs in 19 balls. Captain Craig Ervine also went on after scoring 9 runs at 37. From here the pair of Shaun Williams (22) and Sikandar Sikandar Raza added 42 runs to take the score to 79. Milton Shumba contributed 16 runs and added 58 runs for the fifth wicket with Sikandar Raza. Sikandar Raza played a tremendous innings and scored 82 runs in 48 balls hitting five fours and five sixes before being dismissed on the last ball of the innings. Joshua Little took three wickets for Ireland.

Dockrell was the victim of Sikandar Raza after scoring 24 runs

Chasing the target, Ireland had a poor start and the team lost their 4 wickets for 22 runs. Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker were walked by Richard Engarva. Both scored 0 and 11 respectively. At the same time, Blessing Mujarabani made captain Andrew Balbirnie 3 and Harry Tector on a personal score of 1 run. Curtis Kaempfer and George Dockrell tried to handle the innings and added 42 runs for the fifth wicket to take the score to 64. Dockrell became the victim of Sikandar Raza after scoring 24 runs. The wicket of Camphor also fell on the score of 91 and he too was dismissed for 27 runs. Gareth Delany 24 and Barry McCarthy struggled with an unbeaten 22 but fell far short of the target. Blessing Mujarabani took three wickets for Zimbabwe.
