Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee has made a big prediction saying that Australia can create history by winning the T20 World Cup for the second time in a row. In his new column with the ICC, Lee said Australia is a stronger team in this World Cup than in the 2021 edition of the tournament. Aaron Finch has made only one change this time in comparison to the last T20 World Cup, Tim David has been included in the team in place of Mitchell Swepson. Lee believes that this player can win the title for Australia for the second time in a row.

Brett Lee said-

‘The fact that Tim David is the only new face in the team is a sign of the stability of the defending champions and I think he can be a big reason for Australia to win back to back two titles.’

If Australia is successful in winning the T20 World Cup 2022, then it will become the first team in the history of T20 cricket to win two T20 World Cup titles in a row. Till date no champion team has been able to defend their title.

Australia won the title in 2021

So far 7 editions of T20 World Cup have been played and no team has won the title twice in a row. India won the first T20 World Cup in 2007, while Pakistan lifted the trophy in 2009. England in 2010, West Indies in 2012, Sri Lanka in 2014, West Indies in 2016 and Australia in 2021.

Brett Lee also advised the opposition teams to beware of Australia’s fast bowlers who have performed well in the recent past.
