Jonty Rhodes said- I think he is being put under a lot of pressure by comparing him with Wasim Akram, the great bowler and the Sultan of Swing. Arshdeep has come to the fore in the last two years and this has been common with Indian bowlers. If you see Jasprit Bumrah, he came into the limelight very quickly. Now Arshdeep has done exactly the same. He is a young fast bowler and is currently trying to learn by getting himself into trouble.

The former South African cricketer feels that Arshdeep has all the makings to become a successful bowler in the future.

Changes are expected in the Indian team after back to back T20 World Cup disappointments. It is believed that instead of senior players in the T20 format, youngsters will be given a chance. Asked which youngsters the BCCI should invest in, Rhodes said, “The current Indian team in New Zealand is a very young team and has got some great players in the line-up.” After a good performance in IPL, he definitely has a great opportunity to showcase his skills.

Shubman Gill, Umran Malik, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have been given a chance for the three-match T20 series between India and New Zealand starting on Friday. Rhodes said- You look at the T20 team selected just after the T20 World Cup, which gives a good indication of the ability of some players. It is a strong line-up without senior players.

Talking about the T10 format, the South African legend said that it could be suitable for multi-sport events like Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Rhodes said- T10 is a shorter, more exciting format than T20 cricket which takes three and a half hours. May be we can see it in events like Commonwealth Games or Olympics.
