England’s Nat Sciver has decided to pull out of the T20I series and ODI series against India due to her mental health. The 30-year-old had left Durham today to return home.

A Replacement Player Named in The Team:-

Amy Jones will captain during the T20I series in Sciver’s absence, and a replacement player will be named in the squad ahead of the second T20I in Derby.

Sciver said: “I have played a lot of cricket in the last nine months and I am very emotionally exhausted. The elite sport demands a lot and at the moment I am not able to perform without compromising my well-being.

So I need to take some time out from cricket to focus on myself. It’s the right decision for me and it’s the right decision for the team.”

Fully Support His Decision:-

England Women’s Director of Cricket Jonathan Finch said: “We fully support her decision to withdraw from the nets and this series. Cricket is important, but it is completely unimportant in terms of a person’s health and happiness.

“The welfare of our players and staff is always our number one priority and we will support the Nets during this period.”

Fast bowler Katherine Brunt’s services are also missing:-

England is also missing the services of regular skipper Heather Knight, who is out with injury, and veteran pacer Katherine Brunt, who has been rested for the series.

Sciver was part of the England squad at the Commonwealth Games, where she finished fourth and played a starring role for Trent Rockets in The Hundred.
