IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: India’s batting coach Vikram Rathod on Wednesday, January 31, said it would be a ‘difficult’ choice to choose between Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan for the second Test against England.

The Indian team would like to make a comeback by winning the match to be held from 2nd February :-

The Indian team would like to make a comeback in the five-match series by winning this match to be held from Friday, 02 February. India’s troubles have increased with the defeat in the first match played in Hyderabad and the exclusion of all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Lokesh Rahul from the second Test due to injury. Experienced Virat Kohli is already unavailable for the first two Tests of the series.

Under these circumstances, the selectors were forced to include Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sundar in the team. Rajat Patidar is already a part of the team. Sarfaraz, Saurabh and Patidar have not debuted for the national team.

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: Vikram Rathod said in a press conference in Visakhapatnam :-

“It will be a difficult choice,” Rathore said at a press conference in Visakhapatnam. They are the players who provides strength to the team. We have seen how well they performed in domestic cricket in the last few years.

He said, “I believe that on wickets like this, they will really give strength to the team. If we had to choose just one among them, it would definitely be difficult. This decision will be taken by head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma.

Indian team suffered loss due to losing the first test :-

The Indian team has slipped to fifth place in the World Test Championship (WTC) table after the defeat in the Hyderabad Test match. Rathore said that the team needs to recover from that defeat and move forward. There is no question of holding on to the disappointment of defeat, you learn something from every match. Obviously, we could have done better in batting, bowling and fielding in that match. We are discussing a lot and listening to each other’s views. Hopefully we will do well in the next match.

Vikram Rathore further said :-

He said, “We keep targeting our batsmen for not scoring runs but India is continuously winning series on home grounds. We have not lost any series for the last 12-13 years. This shows that we are scoring more runs than other teams. These are difficult conditions for batting but I hope the batsmen will find a way.
