Punjab Kings completed the task with 14 balls to spare. Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 60 and veteran Chris Gayle remained not out on 43 for the victors. Earlier, MI skipper Rohit Sharma scored his first half-century of the season but still, his team could only manage 131 for 6.

Indian Premier League 2021 Match 17, Mumbai Indians made by 131/6(20.0), and Punjab Kings made by 132/1(17.4).

Bat first, MI struggled in the opening powerplay. 79-run third-wicket partnership between Rohit Sharma 63) and Suryakumar Yadav (33) steadied the ship for the champions. At the end of 20 overs, they posted 131/6 on the scoreboard. Chasing, PBKS got off to a bright start before Mayank Agrawal (25) was sent back by Rahul Chahar. KL Rahul (60) and Chris Gayle (43) wrapped things up comfortably with 14 balls left to spare.

Mayank gets a cut shot to burst through Ishan Kishan to get four as Boult bowls the 4th. A four off a no-ball as the ball slips from Boult’s hands and goes for a beamer. Runs are flowing for Punjab. The required run-rate has come down below 6 already. Rahul Chahar’s leg-spin thrown into the mix in the 5th over. Big turn!  Just 3 runs from Chahar’s over. MI were 17/1 at this stage.
