UEFA Champions League: Karim Banzema takes Real Madrid into last 16, Inter Milan knocked out

Karim Benzema’s two headers sent Real Madrid into the Champions League knockout stages with victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, who also qualify for the last 16.

Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk drew 0-0. Both sides needed a win to qualify but they go out with the San Siro draw.

Real started the day in third place and in major danger of their first ever group-stage elimination. Benzema’s goals from Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo crosses put Real in control.

It was Real Madrid vs Monchengladbach in the 6th match of the UEFA Champions League Group Stage.

Real Madrid came out on top as they defeated Monchengladbach 2-0 in the UCL Group Stage. It was a must-win game for Real Madrid as they did not want to take any chances regarding their qualification in the UCL Round of 16.

Karim Benzema started the scoring for Real Madrid to give the hosts a lead in 9 minutes. He secured a brace by scoring a second goal for the hosts in the 31st minute.

The match ended 2-0 and while Monchengladbach lost, they still qualify for the UCL Round of 16.

Real Madrid finishes at the top of the group with 10 points. Monchengladbach is at the 2nd spot with 8 points.
