CSK vs KKR: Faf Du Plessis and Deepak Chahar help win CSK

Faf Du Plessis brilliant unbeaten 95 and Rituraj Gaikwad’s 64. Chennai Super Kings continued its winning momentum beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 18 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The openers came together for a 115-run partnership to help CSK post a mammoth score of 220 for three.

Deepak Chahar took four wickets. Chahar’s was a very impressive performance for CSK.

The three-time champion’s third win did not come easy as Knight Riders gave CSK a run for its money.

Du Plessis carried his bat and obliterated the KKR bowlers to finish on 95. The second-highest individual score of his IPL career. Du Plessis’ knock featured nine fours and four sixes and a feature of his innings. He was how smoothly he fared, carving through the KKR bowlers at will and pounding them into submission.

“This was the most fluent I’ve felt so far,” Du Plessis said on Wednesday.

Du Plessis batted in such a way that it made one feel that a big score was imminent, but that was not the case with his partner Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“He’s a fantastic young talent (Gaikwad). Those first couple of balls you can feel on edge as a batter. Beautiful to see him trust the timing and the technique. For a small guy he hits the ball a long way.”
