IPL 2024: Price More Than Rs 7 Crore, But Not Getting Place in Playing XI. The IPL is all about big money and even bigger stars. But behind the glitz and glamour, there’s a story of some talented players who are stuck on the bench, despite being bought for a whopping 7 crore rupees (over $1 million) or more!

Big Price Tag, Small Chance:

This year’s IPL saw a crazy auction where 11 players were sold for over 7 crores. Now, here’s the shocker: only 3-4 of them are actually playing regularly! So, what’s happening with the rest?

Meet the Benched Brigade:

  • Rilee Rossouw (South Africa): This power-hitter from South Africa was bought for 8 crores, but guess what? He hasn’t even played a single match yet!
  • Shahrukh Khan (India): This exciting young Indian batsman was bought for 7.40 crores. But sadly, he’s only gotten a chance in 1 match, where he could only manage 14 runs.
  • Kumar Kushagra (India): Another Indian talent, Kushagra was snapped up for 7.20 crores. However, just like Shahrukh, he only got 1 match and couldn’t even score a run.
  • Moeen Ali (England): This experienced all-rounder fetched a cool 8 crores, but has only played 1 match so far. He did grab 2 wickets, but never got a chance to bat.
  • Rovman Powell (West Indies): The big-hitting Powell was bought for a hefty 7.40 crores. But just like the others, he’s only played 1 match, scoring just 11 runs.

And There’s More!

These aren’t the only ones. Several other players were bought for over 10 crores (over $1.3 million) and are warming the bench.

What’s the Deal?

Are these players flops? Did the teams make a mistake? The truth is, it’s complicated.

What Could Be Happening?

  • Team Balance: Sometimes, a team might already have amazing players in a particular position, leaving expensive new recruits on the bench.
  • Performance Matters: If a player doesn’t perform well, they might get dropped to make way for someone in better form.
  • Injury Blues: Injuries can also sideline players for a long time.

What’s Next for Them?

It’s hard to say. Some might bounce back stronger, while others might have to wait for their chance.
