A former Indian all-rounder batsman and Commentator Laxmi Ratan Shukla donated the entire IPL fees in the fight against Covid-19

Former India all-rounder player Laxmi Ratan Shukla has contributed to the fight against Covid-19 on his birthday on Thursday. He said that the entire earnings from the IPL 2021 commentary have been donated to the West Bengal Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Shukla tweeted, “I am happy that I am donating the commentary fees of IPL 2021 on my birthday. My small contribution in fighting Corona’s Second Wave”

Shukla further said, whatever I am today, I am because of the people around me and their support. Therefore, my small contribution made on my birthday can make a difference in this huge misfortune, then I will consider myself lucky. He said that I urge everyone to wear masks and be safe.

Shukla has played three ODIs and 137 first-class matches for the country and 47 IPL matches.

Many cricketers have contributed to the fight against Kovid-19.

Several former and current cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Shikhar Dhawan, and Jaydev Unadkat, Australia’s Pat Cummins and Brett Lee, and Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies have also contributed to the fight against Covid-19. Significantly, after several players and support staff members got corona infected, on Tuesday, BCCI postponed IPL 2021 indefinitely.

Bounce in infection cases in West Bengal

Cases of infection have increased rapidly due to the havoc of the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country. Many parts of the country are facing shortage of oxygen supply and essential medicines. In West Bengal, the number of total deaths from Covid-19 on Thursday increased to 11,964. Whereas the total number of infected people increased to 9,35,066 after a record 18,431 new cases a day in the state.
