However, then the umpire intervened and stopped Pathirana from bowling. According to the umpire, Pathirana was out of the field for a long time and cannot bowl as soon as he comes on the field.
There was a long conversation between the umpire and Dhoni for four minutes and the Chennai players also gathered there. Due to this debate, the game was also affected and finally the umpire gave permission to bowl to Pathirana.
