Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs on Sunday. Batting first, Chennai scored a mountain of 235 runs for four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the mammoth target, the Kolkata batsmen gasped and could only manage 186 for 8 in 20 overs.

CSK made the biggest total of IPL 2023 :-

The pace of Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is getting faster match-by-match. His Chennai Express ran so fast at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Sunday that the Knight Riders could not even touch him. Chennai defeated Kolkata by 49 runs on the strength of Ajinkya Rahane (71 not out), Devon Conway (56) and Shivam Dubey (50). Batting first, Chennai scored a mountain of 235 runs for four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Dhoni thanked the audience :-

After winning the match, Dhoni said, “I would like to thank the crowd for their support, they came in huge numbers. Most of these players will come next time in KKR jersey. They are trying to see me off, so the crowd is very happy.” Thank you very much. The fast bowlers are doing their job, so are the spinners in the middle. The wicket on one side was small so we needed to take quick wickets and keep the pressure on.”

Praise for Rahane’s batting: –

Dhoni further said, “They have got a lot of power hitters, so we had to give respect to the opposition. My bottom line is, if someone gets injured, he can’t do anything. You just go ahead and inspire the youngsters to perform.” We have been lucky that all the players coming in have been performing.”

On Rahane’s performance, he said, “We realize someone’s potential when we let him bat the way he bats. We give him freedom, give him the best position.”
