Shaheen has been out of the field for a long time due to injury. Pakistan had to lose the final match in the 2022 T20 World Cup after Shaheen got injured. He could not complete his over in this match. After this, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar reprimanded him.

Shoaib had said that Shaheen should have bowled a couple of balls after getting an injection in his knee. Had he completed his four overs, Pakistan would have had a chance to win the match.
