According to a report in The Guardian, the men’s and women’s T20 cricket competitions will be eligible to win medals in the Olympics.
The report states that the current proposal for cricket’s entry into the Olympics would have five teams in each competition.
Whose qualification will be basing on the rankings made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the decision on its inclusion in the Los Angeles Olympics is expecting at the end of the year.

Cricket is one of nine sports selecting for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, along with baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, break dancing, karate, kickboxing, squash, and motorsport.
The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics will affect the sale of broadcast media rights. Cricket will also be playing in men’s and women’s T20 formats in the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

According to the report, the current Olympic broadcast rights in India were selling for individual sports, and for the 2024 Paris Olympics. It is saying to be worth only 15.6 million pounds ($20 million).

“This would also serve the long-term objective of the ICC, past indifference to the Olympics has been replaced in recent years by a desire to expand the sport globally,” the report said And resulting in a women’s T20 tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.”
