IPL 2022: David Warner of Delhi Capitals breaks Chris Gayle’s record, becomes player to score most half-centuries in T20

Delhi Capitals: David Warner of Delhi Capitals played an unbeaten innings of 92 runs in 58 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022. He hit 12 fours and three sixes in this innings. Warner also made a record with this innings. He has become the player to score the most fifties in T20 cricket. In this case, he broke the record of Chris Gayle.

Warner scored 89th half-century while playing for Delhi Capitals :-

Warner’s half-century for Delhi was the 89th half-century of his T20 cricket history. Gayle has scored 88 fifties in his T20 career. Virat Kohli of India with 77 half-centuries is at number three and Shoaib Malik of Pakistan at number four with 71 half-centuries. Warner also has many records in the name of IPL.

The record for scoring more than 500 runs in six consecutive seasons :-

Warner was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad team before IPL 2022 season. He holds the record of scoring more than 500 runs in six consecutive seasons while playing for Hyderabad. In IPL, Warner has 5762 runs in 158 matches at an average of 42.06 and strike rate of 140.71. This includes 52 fifties and four centuries.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 207 runs :-

Talking about the match, Delhi Capitals, batting first, scored 207 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. In this, apart from Warner’s 92 not out, Rovman Powell contributed.

Rovman remained unbeaten on 67 off 35 balls with the help of three fours and six sixes. At the same time, captain Rishabh Pant played an innings of 26 runs in 16 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad team piled on 186 runs against Delhi Capitals :-

In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad could only manage 186 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran scored the highest 62 runs for Hyderabad. He hit two fours and six sixes in his 34-ball innings.

Apart from this, Aiden Markram played an innings of 42 runs in 25 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. In this way Delhi won the match by 21 runs.
