Shakib Al Hasan returns to Bangladesh players
Shakib Al Hasan returns to Bangladesh’s list of centrally contracted players, who were missing in 2020 for a large part of the year being part of a one-year ban from all cricket.
All-Format Contract Offering:-
Shakib Al Hasan is one of the five cricketers who were offered an all-format contract. Tamim Iqbal’s contract covers only Tests and ODIs, while Mahmudullah’s contract covers ODIs and T20Is.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board changed its policy in 2020 from red-ball and white-ball bans to more document-specific contracts for players.
The announcement came after the BCB meeting on September 1 and the due date for this year’s central contract is May to December.
The boards first wanted to see how the players performed, as well as discuss with them which format they were rewarded for. The number of players offered contracts has increased significantly from 17 last year to 24 this year.
Although the BCB did not discuss the salary amount for each format, ESPNcricinfo has learned that the match fee remains the same as last year. Therefore players will earn BDT 600,000 (approx USD 7000) per Test, BDT 300,000 (approx USD 3500) per ODI, while BDT 200,000 (approx USD 2350) per T20I.
The Rewarded for their consistency:-
Apart from Shakib, all other formats in the system are Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Taskin Ahmed and Shorful Islam. Rahim and Liton were in the same system last year as well. Meanwhile, fast bowlers Ahmed and Shorful have been rewarded for their consistency this year.
Tamim Iqbal, who opted out of this year’s T20 World Cup, has not played T20Is this year. Mahmudullah, who retired from Tests earlier this year, is still a contracted white-ball cricketer.

Offered one this year:-
Six players – Shorful Islam, Saif Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Noorul Hasan, Nasum Ahmed and Shamim Hossain have been offered central consent for the first time. Those who did not have consent last year but have been offered one this year are Shakib, Ahmed and Shadman Islam. Last year only two players were dropped from the list of proposed contracts: Mohammad Mithun and Naeem Hasan.
