At the Chepauk Stadium, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway took notice of the Lucknow bowlers, taking shots to all four corners of the ground. Both these batsmen made the third century partnership in only 9 innings. Ruturaj-Conway became the first pair to put up a century partnership against Lucknow Supergiants. Earlier, no team pair could make a century partnership against Lucknow.

Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have become the opening pair with the most century partnerships for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Ruturaj-Conway made the third century partnership. Chennai Super Kings have had four opening pairs, who shared century partnerships twice. The opening pair of Murali Vijay and Mike Hussey shared two century partnerships.
