IPL 2023: The BCCI official’s statement regarding the new variant of Corona. Over the last one week, India has registered a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country, with some states even having positivity rates as high as 30%.
BCCI considering reviving strict Policy:-
In such a situation, the concerns of BCCI have increased regarding IPL as well. However, the BCCI is already considering reviving the strict policy.

However, the BCCI will follow the health ministry and state guidelines as far as crowd and restrictions are concerned.
The first match of IPL will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans (GT vs CSK) on Friday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
A senior BCCI official told InsideSport, “There is no such fear. We will follow the protocols laid down by the Union Health Ministry as well as the State Governments.
Advised to follow safety Protocols:-
Masks are still mandatory across India, even though people are not following it. But yes, players, support staff, franchise staff and ground staff have all been advised to follow health and safety protocols.”
It is to be noted that, unlike the ICC, the BCCI has not revised its COVID-19 policy.
While the ICC allows positive players to participate as well, the BCCI has mandated a minimum 7-day quarantine period for the players.
The players will be kept in isolation till they test negative thrice. This rule will also apply to close contacts.
The BCCI has also instructed the family members of the players to be careful and not to step out without a mask.

The player found positive will be taken to a separate isolation room. The entire team and family members will be tested for Covid again.
However, the match will go ahead without any problems. Furthermore, instant contacts will not occur in isolation.
He further said, “There is nothing to panic. Everyone has been vaccinated and their boosters have also been installed.
But as a precautionary measure the players will have to follow all the Covid protocols like wearing masks, limited interaction etc.

Yes, ICC has given permission to the players but we still feel that precaution is necessary in this case. So players will not play with positive tests.
