IPL 2024: CSK may release Ben Stokes, KKR may drop Lockie Ferguson

IPL 2024, Ben Stokes: The most popular game in India, cricket, Indian Premier League is all set to make its comeback with another edition. IPL 2024 is expected to start from March where 10 teams will play.

Auction of IPL 2024 will start in December 2023. All the different franchises will release the names of IPL Retained Players 2024 and IPL Released Players 2024.

IPL 2024: Ben Stokes is almost certain to be released by Chennai Super Kings :-

According to some reports, it has now come to light that Ben Stokes is almost certain to be released by Chennai Super Kings. It is believed that this decision is being taken by CSK due to the unavailability of Ben Stokes in IPL 2023. The England all-rounder, who was bought by CSK for Rs 16.25 crore in the last mini-auction in Kochi, played only two matches in the entire season.

Ben Stokes will undergo knee surgery :-

Also, Ben Stokes had told some time ago that he would have surgery on his left knee and this process would require about two months to recover. However, the CSK management is not willing to take any risk on his availability for the league to be held in March-May 2024.

According to some sources, it is also said that CSK management has held discussions with Stokes, who has indicated to focus on IPL only after the World Cup. Despite England’s World Cup campaign ending, CSK officials are yet to contact Stokes directly.

A CSK official said this :-

A CSK official said, “If Stokes can be available then we will not consider releasing him because he is a big-match player and we respect him very much. But if he is unable to make it through the season then we will Will release them.” With Rs 16 crore we can get some good players.”

KKR can also release Lockie Ferguson :-

Meanwhile, another potential release is Lockie Ferguson. Initially bought by Gujarat Titans in 2022 for Rs 10 crore, he was later traded to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023. Given his injury history, KKR management is reportedly considering his release.
