IPL 2024: How did Hardik Pandya join Mumbai Indians despite being retained by Gujarat Titans?

Hardik Pandya was discussed a lot during the retention day before the IPL 2024 auction. Gujarat Titans first retained Hardik Pandya and shortly thereafter the Titans made a trade.

Mumbai Indians have traded all-rounder Cameron Green to RCB in a cash deal. Now Hardik Pandya has officially joined Mumbai Indians, but after first retaining him, what did Mumbai Indians suddenly do that Hardik left Gujarat and moved to Mumbai?

How Hardik Pandya joined Mumbai Indians?

Let us tell you that all teams have a chance to exchange players till 12th December. Mumbai Indians paid Rs 15 crore to sign Hardik Pandya.

This was the biggest player trade in the history of IPL. Mumbai Indians sold the most expensive player Cameron Green (Rs 17.5 crore) to include Hardik Pandya in the team.

Hardik Pandya will receive an advance fee from Mumbai Indians, while Pandya will also get 50% of the fee from former franchise Gujarat Titans. Before Hardik’s return, Mumbai Indians released a total of 11 players on the retention deadline day.

Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya played a total of 16 matches in IPL 2023 and scored 346 runs, in which he scored 2 half-centuries. In the year 2022, Hardik made Gujarat Titans the champion under his captaincy. Whereas, Hardik scored 1476 runs for Mumbai Indians from 2015 to 2021.
