Why Deandra Dottin Was Ruled Out of WPL 2023, Gujarat Giants Issued a Statement and told the Real Reason

WPL 2023 started from 4th March. Even before the start of this season, there was a controversy, which is about Deandra Dottin of West Indies. Dottin was included in their squad by Gujarat Giants but on 3 March the franchise informed about his exclusion and also informed that Australia’s Kim Garth has been included as a replacement. The question on everyone’s mind was the reason behind Deandra Dottin’s ouster as the franchise didn’t even reveal the reason for his ouster. However, now on Sunday, March 5, the franchise revealed the reason for Dottin’s ouster and informed that the Caribbean player did not get medical clearance before the season’s deadline.

Gujarat Giants Released their Statement on Deandra Dottin Ouster and said,

Deandra is a world class player and a fantastic signing for the franchise. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain the medical clearance before the stipulated deadline for this season. Which is a requirement for all players participating in the WPL. We look forward to seeing him back on the field soon. Based on the clearance of her medical report. She will be a part of the Gujarat Giants team in the upcoming seasons.

On the other hand, on Saturday, Deandra Dottin denied the news of her injury and told that she is not recovering from anything. For this reason, the fans demanded the franchise to reveal the real reason, which has now come to the fore.

Gujarat Giants got a Crushing Defeat in the Very First Match

The first match of the Women’s Premier League 2023 was played at the DY Patil Stadium. In this match, Gujarat Giants got a big defeat by Mumbai Indians by 143 runs. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 207/5 in 20 overs. In reply Gujarat Giants were bundled out for 64 in the 16th over.

Gujarat Giants will play their second match against UP Warriors on 5th March. The match will take place at the Brabourne Stadium from 7:30 pm. It remains to be seen whether captain Beth Mooney, who was injured during the first match, will play or not.
