Surgery recommendations for back stress fractures

A senior BCCI official said, “His condition is not good and is not improving. Surgery is recommended for back stress fractures. But it will take about 4-5 months to recover. That’s why he is ignoring it. But if there is no improvement in it, the medical team has advised him to take the path of surgery. That way, there will be a chance that he can be fit for the World Cup.”

Bumrah still feels that he can at least be fit for the WTC final. He still doesn’t want to go the surgical route. However, the BCCI will take a final call on the matter by next week in consultation with the NCA and the medical team. It is possible that Bumrah will go to London for surgery. The official said, “Bumrah is a great player but like all great players, he is also stubborn. He does not want to undergo surgery as it may take a long time to recover. But since the situation is getting worse rather than better, it is important that the NCA intervenes. We will decide soon.”
