The veteran CSK keeper-batsman, MS Dhoni, was leading the side for the 226th time in the IPL and playing his 250th IPL match overall, which is a record.

Before being caught by MS Dhoni off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill had scored 39 runs and scored 890 runs in 17 matches for IPL 2023. He contributed 67 runs for the first wicket with Wriddhiman Saha.

Saha then played an innings of 54 runs in 39 balls. Then Sai Sudarshan scored 96 runs in just 47 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 8 fours.

In reply, CSK’s innings were halted for two hours due to rain. And they were given a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs.

Openers Devon Conway (47) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) got CSK off to a brisk start. adding 74 runs in 6.3 overs.

But Noor Ahmed dismissed both and then it was a cameo game for the CSK batsmen.

Ajinkya Rahane scored 27 off 13 balls in his last IPL inning. Ambati Rayudu scored 19 off 8 balls and Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 32 off 21 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja proved to be the hero as he hit a six. And a four off the last two balls when CSK needed 10 runs to seal a 5-wicket win via the DLS method. Mohit Sharma ended with 3/36, while Noor Ahmed took 2/17.
