IPL 2022: MI coach Mahela Jayawardene lashed out at the batsmen, and said – if a change is needed, the performance of Mumbai Indians has been disappointing this season in the IPL.

The Hints to change the batting order:-

The team has now faced defeat in all the 8 matches played. Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has hinted at revamping the batting order after consistent failures by his batsmen.

He also expressed concern over the poor form of opener Ishan Kishan, who is currently going through its worst phase in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.

They lost to Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, their eighth successive defeat. Jayawardene was asked about the possible change in the batting order after the match.

He said, “Good question. I’ll have to talk to other coaches as well before formulating it and formulating a strategy.

IPL 2022: He said, batting is a matter of concern for us, especially on good wickets, we have not been able to bat well.

The team has experienced batsmen who are aware of the conditions and have been performing well in the past. We have to move on from this and if we are required to make a change, we will do so.

Our Performance Lacks Consistency:-

There are definitely some concerns because whether we are batting first or chasing, we lack consistency in our performances.

Jayawardene also plans to talk to Ishan Kishan, who is struggling to score runs after scoring half-centuries in the first two matches.

Mumbai had bought Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore in the IPL auction earlier this year. Captain Rohit Sharma has also not been able to perform at his best while veteran Kieron Pollard is also unable to walk.
