MS Dhoni IPL Fixing: Zee Media has moved the Madras High Court in a case related to IPL match-fixing and betting. The petition filed by Zee Media has sought quashing of the inquiry raised by Dhoni in the matter, but his application was rejected by the court.

MS Dhoni Zee Media IPL betting scam: Match-fixing and betting cases in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 shocked everyone. After these many players were arrested and Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were banned for two years. In this case, the name of Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also cropped up. After which in the year 2014, Dhoni filed a defamation case against Zee Media Corporation.

The single-judge order dated November 11, 2022, was challenged in the petition filed by Zee

Zee Media Corporation moved the Madras High Court on Wednesday to quash the inquiry in connection with this defamation suit. The petition, filed by Zee, challenged the single judge’s November 11, 2022 order rejecting its application to quash the query raised by the cricketer.

A bench of Justices R Mahadevan and Mohd Shafiq on Wednesday refused to grant any interim stay on the single-judge order. But agreed to hear Zee’s appeal on Monday, March 13. Dhoni had filed a defamation suit in the High Court against Zee Media. IPS officer Sampat Kumar, and others for alleged malicious statements and news reports. It claims that the cricketer involve in betting and match-fixing of IPL matches in 2013.

Dhoni had said that IPS officer Sampat Kumar is trying to tarnish my image over spot-fixing

Dhoni had appealed to the court to restrain Sampath Kumar and several others from publishing anything on the issue related to the IPL betting scam against him. In fact, in IPL 2013, the matter related to spot-fixing and betting came to the fore. IPS Sampat Kumar was leading this case. He had also commented on Mahendra Singh Dhoni in this matter. After which Dhoni said that IPS officer Sampat Kumar is trying to tarnish my image regarding spot-fixing on me. He also said that he is giving false news and wrong statements against me. Dhoni had also demanded Rs 100 crore from the court as compensation for this.
