Mujeeb Ur Rehman will play in IPL 2021

Mujeeb Ur Rehman will play for Sun risers Hyderabad in IPL 2021. He is an Afghan cricketer and bought for Rs 1.5 crore during IPL 2021 Auction. This is the third IPL tournament for Mujeeb.

Career

In December 2017, he was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2018 under 19 Cricket World Cup. He made his 20-20 international (T20I) debut for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe on 5 Feb. 2018 at Sharjah. Mujeeb took his maiden ODI five-wicket haul. He became the youngest player ever to take an ODI five-wicket haul and was named the man of the match.

He made his ODI debut for Afghanistan against Ireland on 5 December 2017. On debut, 4 wickets for 24 runs, from his quota for 10 overs, and helped his team win by 138 runs, and also awarded man of the match for his performance

Mujeeb became the youngest player to take a five-wicket carry in a One Day International match. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Afganistan’s first-ever Test match against India. In June 2018, It was also his first-class debut.

The 19-year-old, who holds the number two position in T20I rankings, took only three wickets combining the 12th and 13th editions of IPL. The 2020 season of IPL saw the off-spinner playing two matches and claim no victims as Kings XI Punjab stood sixth in the points table.

Following the World Cup, the ICC named Mujeeb as the rising star of Afghanistan’s squad.

Personal Life –

Mujeeb Ur Rehman Zadran was born on 28 March 2001. He is the first 21-century born male to play international cricket. When he was just 3 months old, he lost his Father. He speaks in the Pashto language and his coach translates it. His uncle Noor Ali Zardan is also an Afgan International cricketer.

He got married in Kabul at the age of 19 in 2020.
