Left IPL for Ashes and World Cup

Archer plays international cricket in England. After the IPL, he has to play 5 Tests and as many ODIs in the Ashes series against Australia in June. Had he played the entire tournament before the surgery, he would have faced trouble in international matches.

Archer joined the IPL for the first time in 2018 as a part of the Rajasthan team. But in the mega auction of 2022, he was bought by Mumbai for Rs 8 crore. However, due to injury, he could not play a single match last season.

This season too he could play only a few matches for the team and now left the tournament midway due to surgery. Despite all this, Mumbai wants to invest in him and give him an annual contract.

5 Mumbai franchises around the world

Mumbai Indians are the most successful IPL team, having won the tournament title 5 times. Apart from IPL, the franchise has also bought teams in South Africa, UAE, America, and Women’s Premier League. If Archer accepts the contract, then he will be seen playing cricket with the remaining 4 franchises of Mumbai leaving WPL for the whole year. Jofra played cricket from MI’s own franchise MI Cape Town in SA20 in January this year.

Many England players are being approached

According to reports, in the past, the second franchise of IPL had offered annual contracts to many players in England. Under this players will play cricket for 12 months in leagues around the world with the same franchise from which they have got the contract.
