Bangladesh Fast Bowler Rubel Hossain Announces Retirement From Test Cricket. but will remain in contention for the limited-overs format.

The Represented his country in 27 Tests:-

The 32-year-old has represented his country in 27 Tests since making his debut in the format in 2009 against the West Indies and has taken 36 wickets overall with best figures of 5 for 166.

He never made an impact on Tests. He did it for Bangladesh with his sling action in the limited overs format.

Rubel last played a Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in February 2020, where he took 3 for 113 after bowling more than 25 overs in the innings.

His economy in the longer format has always been a concern:-

He could not make it to the Test side and his economy rate in the longer format has always been a matter of concern though he has a lot of skills.

The pacer has now decided to retire from the format to provide more opportunities to the youngsters.

“To give the youth a chance, I have decided to retire from red-ball cricket,” Rubel wrote on his official Facebook account.

Rubel Hossain is not a part of the T20 World Cup 2022 squad for Bangladesh A few weeks back, Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from the T20I format after a poor performance in the Asia Cup 2022.

Not found in T20 World Cup 2022 squad:-

While veteran batsman Mahmudullah did not find a place in the recently announced T20 World Cup 2022 squad. With Rubel withdrawing from Test cricket, there is a clear indication that the youngsters could be groomed after Bangladesh’s early exit from the Asia Cup 2022.
