IPL 2023: Deepak Chahar Could Bowl Only One Over Against Mumbai, Injured, May be Out of Four-Five Matches

Chennai Super Kings got a shock in the match against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. Fast bowler Deepak Chahar was injured after bowling only one over and could not bowl afterwards. He was taken out of the field only after one over. Deepak spent 10 runs in one over including two fours. According to media reports, Deepak Chahar’s hamstring injury has resurfaced and he will miss the next few matches for the franchise.

Chahar did Not Play 2022 IPL Due to Injury

Earlier Deepak Chahar could not play 2022 IPL due to back injury. Due to injury, he did not even become a part of Team India for several months in 2022. Former Chennai Super Kings veteran Suresh Raina said- It seems that Deepak will be out of the next four-five matches. He seems to have picked up a hamstring injury again and is looking uncomfortable. Chennai now has to travel a lot to play away matches, due to which Deepak’s problems may increase further.

What did Dhoni Say after the Match?

At the same time, captain MS Dhoni said after the match that it was a great win as his team had lost Chahar in the first over itself. Dhoni said- Deepak Chahar is our new ball bowler and Sisanda Magala is playing his first match. The good thing is that the spinners bowled well. Spinners and fast bowlers came back well. The bowling of Magala and Pretorius was also good. Along with this, Dhoni praised young Tushar Deshpande fiercely.

Dhoni said- We believe in him and when you are new you are under pressure, but after playing in IPL for a few years there is a different kind of pressure. He had a very good domestic season, he is improving. He has got a lot of potential but he can improve further by not bowling those no-balls. Chennai has to play the next match against Rajasthan Royals on 12 April.
