But now South Africa has knocked out two-time champion West Indies and one-time champion and two-time runner-up Sri Lanka from the race for direct qualification to the league round. Both these teams will now have to play the qualification round.

World Cup 2023: War in South Africa and Ireland: –

All the matches of West Indies and Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup Super League have been completed. Sri Lanka (81) are at 10th position with all their matches now over. At the same time, West Indies have slipped to 9th position with 88 points. On the other hand, South Africa’s team has come in eighth place with 98 points after beating Netherlands.

Now Ireland’s team is also in this race, which has 68 points and has to play three ODIs against Bangladesh from May 9 to 14. Now taking the equation according to these remaining matches, there is nothing in South Africa’s hands. If Ireland win all their three matches, they too will end up with 98 points and then net runrate comes into play. Currently, Africa’s net runrate is -0.07, which is higher than Ireland’s -0.38.
