SRH vs MI 2024: Suryakumar Yadav Doubtful To Play in IPL 2024, Worry For Mumbai Indians! The 8th match of IPL 2024 sees Mumbai Indians take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The match is set for a 7:30 PM start at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. But before the big night, a major worry has emerged for MI. Their explosive batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, is still not fully fit. This puts his participation in the upcoming match in serious doubt.
Surya’s Injury Could Be A Big Problem For MI!
According to sports news reports, Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t received a full fitness clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) yet. This means he might miss the match against Sunrisers.

He already sat out the first game against Gujarat Titans due to the same injury, and MI ended up losing that match by a narrow margin of 6 runs.
In Surya’s absence, Mumbai’s middle order seems quite fragile. The lack of experience in the middle is evident, and Surya is a crucial pillar for this team.
What caused the injury and how has Surya performed in the IPL?
Remember how Surya captained the Indian T20 team on their recent South Africa tour? Well, that’s where he picked up the injury. He suffered an ankle issue during the series and also missed the subsequent series against Afghanistan.
“Mr. 360” even underwent surgery in Germany for a sports hernia. He’ll only be able to play in the IPL once he gets the green light from the NCA. He did undergo a fitness test on March 19th, but the results are yet to be revealed.

Speaking of Surya’s IPL record, he’s a force to be reckoned with. In his 139 matches so far, he’s amassed a whopping 3249 runs with an average of 32.17 and a mind-blowing strike rate of 143.32.
He’s smashed 21 fifties and even has a century to his name in the league. Last season, Surya was on fire, scoring 605 runs in just 16 innings at a staggering strike rate of over 181!
