Women’s IPL: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Friday said that the board is planning to start the Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2023. While there will be four exhibition matches at this convention.

A Four Exhibition Matches in this Convention:-

Whereas during the return after a gap of one year, four exhibition matches will be held in this convention.

BCCI’s representation was made in the past for not starting the women’s IPL. It will need the approval of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to start the league in the next session.

Women’s IPL: The board is planning five or six teams in the initial phase. The 10 participating franchises of men’s IPL will be given the first opportunity to buy women’s IPL teams.

A Invest in Women’s IPL:-

At least four men’s IPL franchises are interesting to know from the BCCI how much they will benefit if they choose to invest in the women’s IPL.

Women’s IPL BCCI: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly told reporters after the IPL Governing Council meeting here on Friday, it (full women’s IPL) will require the consent of the AGM.

We are planning to launch it next year. In an interview with PTI in February, Ganguly had said that the women’s IPL would be launching in 2023.

IPL chairman Brijesh Patel also made it simple that in this convention, four matches will be held along with the men’s IPL playoffs of three women’s teams.

Sourav Ganguly, Women’s Indian Premier League: Patel said after the meeting, during the playoff time four matches of three teams would be played.

IPL Second Leg:-

Last year, due to the pandemic. The exhibition matches were not holding due to the second leg of the IPL being holding in the United Arab Emirates.

However, in 2020 they were holding in the United Arab Emirates. Where the IPL Trailblazers won the title.

Women’s IPL: Patel said that women’s IPL will have five or six teams but they will need the consent of the AGM. The women’s exhibition matches are likely to be holding in Pune.

The Governing Council also discussed the issue of IPL media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle. A member of the Governing Council said, soon the tender for this will come out.
