WPL 2023: Mithali Raj becomes mentor and advisor of WPL team Gujarat Giants. Raj has been appointed as mentor and advisor to Gujarat Giants, one of the five franchises set to participate in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
One of the strongest advocates of the Women’s Franchise League:-
The most prolific run-scorer in the history of women’s cricket – has been one of the strongest advocates of an IPL-style women’s franchise league in India.

Mithali will also promote women’s cricket at the grassroots level, as a mentor and advisor to the Giants. In his home state of Gujarat.
“Women’s cricket continues to grow, and this kind of inspiration will undoubtedly encourage young women to take up cricket professionally,” Raj said in a media release.
“I believe the high-impact participation of corporates will ultimately help accelerate the process of bringing more glory to India.
This level of influence can help strengthen the sports ecosystem and increase opportunities for female athletes.”
WPL is likely to be Played from March 4 to March 24:-
A tight window has been squeezed between the Women’s T20 World Cup, which ends in late February, and the men’s IPL, which starts a week after the women’s competition.
The WPL auction, to be holding in early February, will have an auction purse of Rs 12 crore (approximately USD 1.46 million) per team.
Each team can buy a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players. Including seven foreign players, one of whom must be from an associate country.
WPL teams have the option of fielding five foreign Players in the XI:-
Unlike the men’s IPL, WPL teams will have the option of fielding five overseas players in the XI, provided again by an associate team.
A total of 22 matches will be playing in WPL 2023. With each team playing the other twice, making a total of eight games per team.

The top-ranked team will advance directly to the final. While the second and third-placed teams will face off in qualifiers to determine the other finalists.
