Covid 19: Bengal Ranji Trophy training session has been canceled

Six players and senior support staff – have tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the cancellation of the training session. His trip to Bengaluru, where the Elite Group B games are scheduled for January 8, could also be pushed back.

Keeping in mind the current pandemic situation. The Cricket Association of Bengal had conducted RTPCR Tests of all Bengal cricketers as a safety measure. CAB secretary Snehasish Ganguly said in a statement late on Sunday evening.

“The CAB is taking all necessary precautions and actions in this regard,” Snehasish Ganguly, secretary of the association, said in a statement.

Kolkata is one of six cities name to host Ranji Trophy group-stage matches this year. With Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram the other venues. Kolkata will also schedule for hosting the knockouts of the tournament.

According to the PTI, the seven squad members in question are players Sudip Chatterjee, Anustup Majumdar, Kazi Junaid Saifi, Geet Puri, Pradipta Pramanik and Sujit Yadav, and assistant coach Saurasish Lahiri.
