New Zealand batsman Devon Conway became the highest run-scorer in the debut match at Lord’s ground in England

The visiting team dominated the first day of the first Test match between England and New Zealand being played at Lord’s ground. Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand scored 243 for the loss of three wickets with the help of a century from Devon Conway (136 not out) till the end of the day’s play. Henry Nicholls is present on 46 runs with Devon Conway at the crease.

Devon Conway makes history

Devon Conway made history while playing the first match for New Zealand in a white jersey. Along with scoring a century at Lord’s, he broke the 25-year-old record of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. When his personal score crossed 131 runs in the 83rd over, he became the first player to score the highest run in a debut match at Lord’s. Earlier this record was made by Sourav Ganguly in 1996 by scoring 131 runs.

It is noteworthy that after winning the toss, Latham (23) and Conway gave a good start to New Zealand’s team and added 58 runs for the first wicket. Latham was bowled by Ollie Robinson and gave England the first breakthrough. After this, England got the wickets of captain Kane Williamson (13) and experienced batsman Ross Taylor (14) in short intervals.

At that time it seemed that England would tighten their grip on the visiting team from here, but Conway and Henry Nicholls did not allow this to happen.
